Lindley Squirrel
Lindley C of E Infant School asked me back to carve a sqirrel to go with the otter, and owl that I had carved something ago. They have a playground full of cherry trees that are gradually coming to the end of their safe life, so I might have a regular job for some years. I am not a wildlife expert so, I visited the Cliffe Castle Museum, Keighley and looked at their red squirrel to take measurements, Photographs and drawings. As I need to visualise the finished result whilst it is still in the block, I made a plastercine model, which by chance was exactly half the size of the final carving. This makes scaling up so much easier. I really enjoyed my day and the lively audience in the playground.
