Work whilst being carved
The Immanuel Scouts of Blackburn asked me to carve a Scout Pole. We agreed on a design that depicts the 3 ages involved in scouting, Scouts by a scout spear and neckerchief, Wolves and Beavers by masks. The tree was carved where it had fallen which made it difficult. It was low on the ground and that was just too low for me and my back complained. The tree was 22 foot long and 24 inch diameter and too heavy to turn round so I could not get to the back and the front at the same time
